In case you are wondering who the masterchefs behind the scenes are...
Flambé was founded in 2009 by Andy Wakeford and Simon Ratzker. Their mission; to combine forces and cook up quality entertainment that would only be provided by artists with experience, skill and passion.
Helena Parsons and Tor Callis joined ranks in 2011, and have helped propel Flambé forwards in terms of diversity and skill base.
So why Flambé?
Flambé is a cooking procedure in which alcohol is added to a hot pan; the burst of flames evaporates the alcohol, infusing the dish with additional flavour.
Considering that one of our specialities is fire performance, it seems apt that we are the flaming crescendo to an event; adding theatricality, action and entertainment in our own unique way. And since every event is special, only the best ingredients will do.
Maestro of the computer keyboard when in office and master of prop manipulation when out, Andy is the definition of multi-talented. He is the head honcho when it comes to business, with his MEng (Hons) degree in Systems Engineering coming in helpful in the day to day running of Flambé.
Andy will happily meet and chat with clients to discuss their needs, and has a knack for sourcing exactly what bookers want. When it comes to performance, he really comes into his own, excelling through his magnificent balloon modelling and fabulous fire shows.
Helena has been performing from a young age and is a lady of many talents. She serves as our admin fairy, head choreographer and wardrobe mistress.
With a BA (Hons) in Dance, Helena specialises in combining dance and circus skills, as well as enjoying interactive character work. Outside of the office, her skills include stilt walking, fire, glow, dance, poi, fans, balloons and bubbleology.
They do say that the best things come in small packages, and Helena’s drive and passion make her an invaluable member of the team.
Simon is Flambé’s workshop wizard, and can normally be found hacking, sawing, or exploding things. With a BA in Character Creation and Technical Effects and a natural flair for design, he can turn any blank canvas, piece of metal or chunk of polystyrene into something amazing.
A circus enthusiast since 2000, the performance avenue is giving Simon the chance to shine, and he is currently at the forefront of whip and tech fan performance in the UK. Simon is also the company’s daydreamer - Most of our wackiest ideas can often be attributed to him.
Since joining a dance school and youth circus group in her childhood, Tor has never looked back.
With a first class degree in Journalism and Public Relations, she is our resident art queen, social media guru and little ray of sunshine. Performance wise, Tor specialises in stilt walking, fire and glow skills, bubbleology and interactive character work.
We have a theory that Tor’s positivity, vision and effervescent demeanor are derived entirely from her magnificent cheekbones.
Here is a small selection of happy clients we have worked with in the past.
